Solo Latin Album Release & Show in Nashville, TN

I had the incredible opportunity to play at a club called DrkMttr in East Nashville and perform with local musicians as an opening act to my friend Grey Jack's show. A night of unforgettable sound, and music with some of the best players.

Solo Latin Album ready to release September 5

In preparation for the radio, CD, and streaming of my new album Raíces | Roots, I have various concerts planned where I'll be performing the songs with some of the album musicians, and a few of the shows are back to back album prereleases with my friend Grey Jacks who also has a record coming out. Recording Solo Latin Album at Bias Studios

On Feb 1 and 2 I recorded seven songs with the generous help of my music collaborator Kevin Dudley. With his stand out guitar arrangements and additional collaboration from Bassist Eugenio Ibarz and Percussionist Jason Walker, we made a fantastic recording of our live performance. Songs include 5 originals plus two covers from different parts of the latin American music tradition; Veinte Años, a Bolero written by María Teresa Vera, released in 1935 and performed by Omara Portuondo on the 1997 Buena Vista Social Club album produced with Roy Cooder, and Zamba de Usted, from 1964 by Argentine writers Ariel Ramírez / Félix Luna. I am so excited to be able to present my first solo album this spring! Follow me on Instagram and Facebook or get the newsletter to find out when the music will be available for streaming.

Featured are Crooked Sparrow members Kevin Dudley on guitar, Jen Smith on fiddle, and myself on guitar & vocal. The song is Por Que (Valeria Stewart ©2021 BMI). Submissions will be reviewed until a final winner is chosen in May.

MASC 39 Honorable Mention in Americana category, Yellow Flowers (©️V.Stewart & K.Dudley)

In August of 2022 I started writing a new song, Yellow Flowers, and the concept was that sometimes the threads of a friendship can fray, yet after some time and distance we are left with the memory of a small kindness. The flowers, and the friendship, offered to me during a particularly hard time in my life, became the theme of this song. Kevin Dudley and I worked intensely to shape the lyrics and the arrangement into its current form, and its been one of our best collaborations. Listen to it here from our November concert opener at the Sevareid House.
